Extraordinary thank you
November 19, 2012
A Berkshire yarn shop suggested that we knitters send someof our creations to the New Jersey people who have lost
so much this fall. So I quickly knit one of my raggedy scarfs,
long and warm and full of those leftovers all knitters have,
added a kid's hat that hadn't gone to anyone in the family
and a multi-colored hood that no one had ever used and
shipped them off.
I was stunned to receive a personal letter, written the
morning the things arrived in New Jersey, thanking me
and listing the items sent. Along with a "hugs" card.
The distribution group is part of the Linus Project, which
sends blankets year-round, far and wide. But imagine
taking the time to say thank you way beyond a form
letter.
I'm starting another scarf.
